It is hallmarked Chester 1900 and has the makers mark RJW for Richard John Wakefield of Tenby St North, Birmingham. It also has a c clasp and pin indicative of the era. Sweetheart brooches were given as tokens of love by soldiers to their loved one before they entered active service. They were often also given to Mother's and other family members as keepsakes to remember the
